From The Heart
From The Heart is a personal statement. Coming from the hand-dyed batting heart with a silver lame' background is a wind of custom-printed silk organza with a base of silver handpainted and heat-distressed Lutradur which contains the following phrases:
"True love comes from the heart""Keep good friends close"
"Remember, but transcend, your beginnings"
"Celebrate your future"
"Cherish"
"Enjoy"
"Believe"
From The Heart is pieced from cotton fabric and synthetic velvet. The positive and negative heart motifs are heat-embossed on the velvet. Antique photos were processed, printed on cotton, and mounted on white felt, then appliqued onto the quilt top with black felt "photo corners." The piece is free-motion quilted in a folk motif and embellished with handmade polymer buttons, all hand-textured and rubbed with metallic pigments, then tied onto the quilt with silver ribbon. It has a rod pocket attached to the back for mounting, as well as a custom-printed label by the artist. The piece measures 22"x22". Two of the photos were finds at local antique shops, but the family group portrait is from the artist's family collection - the little girl in white in the front is my maternal grandmother, and the adults are my great-grandparents. I can safely guess that this photo dates to around 1908.PRICE: $125.00

The Night Sky
Night Sky is an all-cotton paper pieced wall hanging approximately 27"x27", perfect for that spot on your wall that needs that little something extra. It's custom machine quilted by the artist. With a husband who's a river captain, I specialize in the Mariner's Compass, also known as the Compass Rose, and this piece is a beautiful example. It deserves a special place where it can be appreciated.
